Today’s High school students have grown up in the digital age and use online technology to connect and learn. They respond to a curriculum that is innovative and engaging. We offer an array of online public high school courses for them to choose from, including core subjects, honors & AP classes, and career readiness courses that are tailored to prepare them for life after high school.
Course offerings are subject to change and may vary based on school staffing.
Our Courses
IVSA courses are fully aligned to Illinois State Learning Standards and College Board (AP courses) while many are also accredited by the NCAA. All courses are taught by IL licensed teachers. Original credit courses can be synchronous (live lessons) or asynchronous (students are not online live with their teachers but work through lessons at their own pace). Lessons include multiple models of delivery of content, targeted practice, and varying types of activities including written work, discussion boards, quizzes & tests, projects, labs, and group work.
NEXT CHAPTER CREDIT RECOVERY PROGRAM – IVSA’s new Full-Time Program available to students needing to recover multiple credits. This FTA program gives students additional support with a Student Success Coach walking with them through their Credit Recovery courses.
Prescriptive courses allow students to ‘test-out’ of previously mastered material if they prove mastery via a pretest. Credit recovery courses are asynchronous which means that students are not online live with their teacher but work through lessons at their own pace. Lessons include multiple models of delivery of content, quizzes & tests. Teachers facilitate completion of credit recovery but do not provide instructional support. IVSA works with the local school to provide any additional support, however, students with IEP/504 plans who require accommodations are encouraged to take Original Credit courses. Credit Recovery Courses are issued Pass/Fail grades on the IVSA Completion Report with the percentage provided by the teacher. Schools may choose to place either the Pass/Fail designation or the percentage on the transcript.
